The US Army has given Lockheed Martin $194 million for the production of the Army Tactical Missile System, which it expects to complete by the second quarte Tactical Missile System, which it expects to complete by the second quarter of 2010. The military had said the weapon system was specially designed to defeat anti-tactical missile defence systems. Patriot is a long-range, all-altitude, all-weather air defence system to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and advanced aircraft. According to the company, Patriot Advanced Capability-3 is a “hit-to-kill” terminal air defense missile designed to defend against adversarial tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft. ATACMS is a long-range missile artillery round designed specifically for destroying high-priority targets at ranges up to 300 kilometers. In May, during a visit to Tactical Missiles Corporation's NPO Raduga missile design bureau, Rogozin called on Russia's defense industry to develop hypersonic air-breathing weapons as a future strike system. The contract includes the ATACMS Quick Reaction Unitary and the Block IA Missiles. Congress spent the most recent round of budget hearings ripping the program the U.S.
